What use are in-the-moment polls? Discover their full potential!
Why run a live poll?
At the beginning or end of a session, whether teaching face-to face or remotely, or in a company presentation: any moment is good for a poll! 6 reasons for using an instant poll:
To wake up and engage your public (at any moment), and therefore bring a pulse of energy to your course or presentation.
Example: “What do you think of Descartes’ theory of animal machines?”
A- That’s exactly how I think.
B- I would not have thought of it, but it seems an interesting idea.
C- It intrigues me, but I’ll have to think about it.
D- I don’t agree at all, I think it’s a horrible idea.
To launch a brainstorming session.
Example: “What would be a great name for this new sneaker brand?”
To open a work session (perhaps as an icebreaker).
Example: “Before starting our management training, what kind of manager do you think you are?”
A- Margaret Thatcher, that is, a lady (or man) of iron.
B- Santa Claus, bringing happiness to all my teams, and meeting their expectations with gifts and encouragement.
C- Head coach, firmness, respect, and victory.
To assess how much your students have learned from your course.
Example: “So, in what year did Christopher Columbus reach the Americas?”
To poll the opinion of your attendees.
Example: “What solution would you put in place so that this problem does not happen again?”
To get feedback from your customers, employees, or colleagues.
Example: “From 1 to 10, how would you rate this product?”

Wooclap: main features
- Display the results instantly:
As soon as your respondents begin to respond, you can show the results up on the board. It’s a great way to boost interactivity, to show your audience that their opinions are important, or respond to them at the moment! With the paid version of Wooclap, you can also download the results (in PDF or Excel format), to keep them for later, or analyze them in more detail.
- Add images:
Make your polls more immediately clearer or simply more attractive by placing an image above each question. You can also use sound, audio clips, music, or lyrics!
- Customize the appearance:
With Wooclap, you can change how the suggested answers appear: as a classic poll, a multiple-choice question, a word cloud, a list, or a grid. Change it up and make it fun!
In addition to traditional online polling features, Wooclap offers a whole variety of extras. Because quality lies in the details!
Let contributors to the online poll provide their identity or not. As the creator of the poll, you can set this before you launch it.
Competition mode allows you to score not only the correct answers in your online poll, but also the quickest. So you can add a little healthy competition to a knowledge test, or encourage even more participation!
Limit the time each participant can spend on a question by adding a countdown. When you create your poll, activate the option in the sidebar to the right of your dashboard. A countdown then appears in the form of a progress bar below your question, to inform your audience of the remaining time (from 10 seconds up to several minutes)!
If you activate this option (again on the right of your screen in the poll creation dashboard), participants can send you a message when answering a question during the live poll. This is useful if there is a misunderstanding, or you want them to clarify something!
Mix up your live poll by integrating other materials. For example, upload a PDF presentation to alternate between slides and polls. Likewise, directly integrate your polls into all your other tools, thanks to PowerPoint and Google Slide extensions.
