Creating Medical Quizzes Faster: Antony Thirion's Feedback on Quiz Wizard

Antony Thirion is the president of CM Académie, a national online training platform for health studies students enrolled in LAS (Licences with Health Access) and PASS (Specific Health Access Pathway) programmes who wish to enter the MMOPK track (Medicine, Midwifery, Dentistry, Pharmacy and Physiotherapy). Drawing on his expertise, Antony has created numerous online training courses across many fields related to medicine.

Antony is an experienced Wooclap and Wooflash user: he uses the former to energise his live sessions, and the latter to support students in their individual work. He also took part in beta testing Quiz Wizard, a new platform developed by Wooclap that uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to help teachers create multiple-choice questions and flashcards more quickly.

Creating quizzes faster

With Quiz Wizard, Antony can rapidly generate multiple-choice questions and flashcards on any topic. He recommends starting by entering the subject, level and general theme of the course, and letting Quiz Wizard generate a first set of questions. This allows the topic to be covered more broadly than he would have done on his own. For example, he starts by generating questions in the subject "Anatomy" on the theme "the heart." Only then does he narrow his focus to more specific points in his course, and finally asks Quiz Wizard to generate questions based on his course materials. He ends up with a wide range of questions covering his entire subject.

Once the questions are generated, Antony reworks them to match his expectations. He has a habit of phrasing all his questions in a consistent way, starting with "True or false" or "Select the correct answer(s)," for instance. He then exports the questions into Wooflash to build revision paths for his students.

Antony used to spend around 1.5 hours creating a quiz on a given topic. Using Quiz Wizard has saved him over 30 minutes per quiz, time he can now fully dedicate to his students.

Co-building Quiz Wizard

"Just like our other platforms Wooclap and Wooflash, Quiz Wizard is entirely co-built with our users (teachers, trainers, and learning managers)" says Sébastien, Co-founder of Wooclap. Antony was given early access to the platform, along with around fifty other users, so he could share his experience with the Wooclap team and help make Quiz Wizard more relevant and easier to use. Among his suggestions: making it easier to create "True or false" questions, helping users adjust the "level" and "class" parameters to vary question difficulty, and exporting flashcard sets as Association questions in Wooflash.
