Two Companies, One Vision: Inside the Wooclap–Vevox Acquisition

A conversation with Baudouin Corman, CEO of Wooclap, and Pete Eyre, Managing Director of Vevox, on why they joined forces and what it means for the future of active learning in the classroom and the training room.
On September 15, Wooclap announced it had acquired Vevox, bringing together two of the most established names in audience engagement and active learning. We sat down with Baudouin Corman and Pete Eyre to talk about the deal, the timing, and what changes, and what doesn't, for the educators, trainers, and learners who rely on both platforms every day.
Let's start with the obvious question: why now, and why each other?
Baudouin: In the age of AI, live learning experiences matter more than ever. They build curiosity, teamwork, and critical thinking. This is the magic of learning together. The kind of magic that makes us think, reflect, and grow as a group. AI gives everyone instant access to information, but access isn't the same as learning. For knowledge to truly stick, it has to be built through experience: engaging with the material, with your peers, with a teacher or trainer in the room. That's not just intuition, it's what neuroscience has shown for years about how learning and retention actually work. It's also been Wooclap's mission since day one: helping teachers and trainers design real active learning journeys for their learners. That mission has never been more relevant than it is today.
Pete: From our side, we've built Vevox around one idea: Value Every Voice. Make sure everyone in the room, not just the loudest or most confident person, gets to contribute and be heard. Wooclap brings that same conviction to active learning, grounded in cognitive science and focused on learning outcomes. Put those two approaches together, and you get a much more complete answer for anyone running live training, a lecture hall, or a company-wide meeting.
What does the combined company actually look like? In scale, in reach?
Baudouin: Together, we're now serving over 1,000 higher education institutions and enterprise learning teams worldwide. Universities like Duke, the University of Alberta, and Sorbonne University, alongside companies like Deloitte and Dior, all rely on Wooclap to build active learning experiences. Tens of millions of educators, trainers, and learners use our combined platforms every year, across more than 150 countries. That kind of network isn't just a number. It's what lets us do research at scale, share best practices across institutions, and build tools that genuinely reflect what every discipline and every industry needs.
Pete: Geographically, it really comes down to two strong networks joining forces. Vevox is the market leader in the UK, with a university network spread across the world, notably in North America. Wooclap is the market leader in several European countries, with a global university network reaching across North America, Asia, and Latin America. Put those two networks together, and the group becomes the major global player in live engagement for training and classes.

Does this mean the two products are merging?
Pete: Not today. Wooclap and Vevox will keep operating as two separate platforms for now. If you're a Vevox customer, nothing changes about your product, your contract, or your support. Same if you're on Wooclap.
Baudouin: Long-term, yes, the ambition is to bring the best of both into one unified experience. Whatever we build will be designed to be seamless for people already using either product. This isn't about disrupting anyone's workflow. It's about scale and vision.
Is this connected to Wooclap's funding story?
Baudouin: It's part of it, yes. Impact Expansion invested in Wooclap about a year ago specifically to help us grow internationally, and they've been working closely with us ever since. This acquisition is one of the strategic moves that partnership has been building toward.
Looking ahead, what's the one thing you'd want people to take away from this?
Baudouin: That this is about more than combining two products. It's about bringing together two communities of educators and trainers whose top priority is the outcomes for the people in front of them. AI is a formidable source of information, but it must never replace the effort and the reasoning that actually make learning happen: asking a question, working through a problem, explaining your thinking out loud. That conviction is what Wooclap and Vevox have each built their platforms around, on their own, for years. Now we get to build it together. In the end, that's what this acquisition is about: giving more educators and trainers, everywhere, the tools to make that learning experience possible.
