Training and mobilizing teams in the field: a daily challenge in construction

Training, raising awareness, engaging teams… In the construction sector, corporate training often feels like a puzzle. With scattered worksites, mobile teams, and logistical constraints, how can you ensure that every employee remains an active participant in the CSR approach?

This is the challenge NGE, a major player in the French construction sector, successfully addressed by relying on Wooclap to run an environmental challenge involving hundreds of employees.

During a webinar, Antoine Fricard, Environmental Officer within the CSR department, shares how a simple and accessible tool can transform the way organizations train, unite, and engage a learning community, even directly on worksites.

1. Making training accessible to everyone, even on worksites

At NGE, corporate training must adapt to a very diverse audience: technicians, site managers, engineers, machine operators… and not all of them have a professional email address or a fixed workstation.

As Antoine Fricard explains:

We needed to think about a tool that would give us that level of flexibility.”

With Wooclap, the solution quickly became obvious. Thanks to a simple QR code or link, employees could access content directly from their phones, with no installation or complex authentication.

This simplicity was the key to success: scan, answer, done. The CSR department was able to reach audiences who are often far removed from digital tools. The “environmental quarter-hours” on worksites, short awareness sessions led by supervisors, became interactive discussion moments supported by Wooclap quizzes.

The result? More inclusive training, where everyone, whether in the office or on site, can participate and learn at their own pace.

2. An environmental challenge to unite teams

Each year, during Sustainable Development Week, NGE organizes an internal awareness initiative. In 2024, Antoine and his team designed an Environmental Challenge focused on the “environmental essentials”: eight key principles to follow on worksites, including energy savings, water management, waste sorting, and responsible use of chemical products.

To reach as many people as possible, a Wooclap quiz was created in five languages (French, English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Arabic), all accessible via a single QR code.

“With one single event, I was able to offer these different links. Employees chose their language and answered directly.”

This inclusive approach also made it possible to engage international and non-French-speaking employees.

The outcome: nearly 700 participants in one month, a record for the company.

Beyond the numbers, it was the collective dynamic that stood out. Wooclap quizzes encouraged team discussions, friendly competition, and ownership of key messages. Training became an engaging, unifying experience.

3. Active learning at the heart of the initiative

Far from a top-down questionnaire, the NGE challenge was built on active learning principles. Antoine relied on the diversity of Wooclap formats: matching questions, images, pictograms… playful mechanics that encourage reflection and discussion.

Some questions were deliberately tricky, prompting teams to discuss before validating their answers.

In the field, quizzes were often completed in small groups during the famous “environmental quarter-hours.”

This format fosters collaboration and learning through experience, two essential pillars for embedding lasting environmental best practices.

Visuals, such as worksite photos and waste-sorting pictograms, also helped make the content more concrete and universal. Antoine confirms:

Images add a more friendly and concrete dimension. They reflect employees’ daily reality."

We wanted to introduce a bit of difficulty, so people would think, search through our internal resources, or discuss with colleagues.

4. A simple, fast, and efficient tool for trainers

While the initiative appealed to employees, it also won over trainers.

Wooclap proved to be a real time-saver for Antoine and the CSR team, both in preparation and follow-up.

In just a few clicks, he was able to create questions, translate versions, track responses, and export results.

Wooclap is a turnkey tool: you create a question, add an image, and you’re ready to go

Data analysis was done directly through Wooclap’s Excel export: sorting results, automatic ranking, and identifying winners.

The result: two minutes to establish the final leaderboard.

And above all, one striking observation: with Wooclap, internal communication becomes far more effective.

“We achieved six or seven times more engagement compared to a traditional email-based communication.”

This efficiency has inspired other NGE departments, which are now starting to adopt the tool for their own training and internal consultation needs.

5. More human and more inclusive training

NGE’s story shows that corporate training can be both serious and playful, structured and spontaneous.

By integrating Wooclap into its CSR strategy, the group succeeded in creating a true learning community, where everyone feels empowered to drive change, regardless of role or language.

The strength of this initiative lies as much in the technology as in the philosophy behind it: putting people at the center, making knowledge come alive, and fostering pride in learning together.

Antoine Fricard concludes:

Wooclap allowed us to reach audiences we couldn’t reach before. And above all, to show that CSR can be accessible, participative, and motivating

Bringing people together, learning, and taking action

Through NGE’s experience, one conviction stands out: successful training does not depend solely on content, but also on how participants are engaged.

With Wooclap, the company found a simple, agile, and inclusive way to animate its learning communities, even in a sector where geographical dispersion is the norm.
