IGPDE and Wooclap

 When training meets simplicity

Training trainers is already a challenge. Getting them to adopt a new digital tool on top of that can sometimes feel like an adventure. At the Institute for Public Management and Economic Development (IGPDE), the training body of the French Ministry of the Economy and Finance, this challenge has been successfully met thanks to Wooclap.

Each year, IGPDE trains nearly 38,000 public sector employees and is committed to making its training programs increasingly dynamic and participatory. To strengthen learner engagement, the institution decided to integrate Wooclap into its pedagogical setups, both in-person and remotely.

But for this transition to succeed, trainers also needed to be supported in getting to grips with the tool. This is the mission of Julien Vigneron, instructional designer at IGPDE, who designed a dedicated adoption pathway to help everyone become familiar with Wooclap, understand its benefits, and use it with confidence.

Our goal was to get our trainers to adopt Wooclap, whether in the classroom or in virtual training sessions.

In just a few sessions lasting two and a half hours, IGPDE managed to turn curiosity into genuine enthusiasm, guided by a shared principle: ease of use.

Training that puts trainers in learners’ shoes

The secret to success? Starting by experiencing Wooclap as a participant.

Julien explains that each session begins with full immersion. Trainers join a Wooclap event via a QR code and take part in polls, word clouds, and quizzes, exactly as their future learners would.

“We let them discover Wooclap as learners, so they can concretely understand what it’s for,” Julien explains.

This approach allows them to feel how smooth the tool is to use: no complex software, no tedious setup. In just a few clicks, interaction begins. Everyone participates, exchanges ideas, and has fun.

The pedagogical goal is clear: show that participation can be activated without adding logistical complexity.

This simplicity is especially valuable for ministry trainers who are often used to rigid technical environments. With Wooclap, interactivity becomes a reflex rather than a constraint.

An apple pie recipe… to learn how to create a quiz

After experiencing Wooclap from the learner’s perspective, trainers move on to hands-on practice. And here, Julien gives them an instruction that is both playful and effective: create a Wooclap questionnaire based on… an apple pie recipe.

Why this choice? Because it allows everyone to focus on the tool itself, without getting lost in subject matter.

“The point of this exercise is to showcase the different question types and the richness of the tool,” Julien explains.

Each participant has to imagine five different questions from the text: a multiple-choice question, an open-ended question, a word cloud, a sorting activity, and more. A perfect way to explore Wooclap’s full range of features.

To keep the session dynamic, Julien also uses another practical feature: the Wooclap countdown timer. The 25 minutes pass, everyone tests their questionnaire with the group, and discussions flow.

The result: an active, concrete, and immediately applicable discovery. Trainers leave not only convinced, but also autonomous.

When simplicity serves pedagogy

Behind this approach lies a strong conviction: pedagogical effectiveness depends on tools that are easy to use.

Julien emphasizes that Wooclap’s added value lies not only in its features, but in its fluidity. Creating a question, launching a quiz, displaying results, everything feels natural, without heavy technical training.

This simplicity changes everything:

  • Trainers save time,
  • Learners stay focused and active,
  • And the pedagogical team can concentrate on what really matters: content and knowledge transfer.

When a tool is intuitive, it frees the trainer from the fear of bugs or losing control

This is what he calls calm pedagogy: an environment where everyone feels comfortable, connected, and engaged.

A continuous adoption dynamic

Since the introduction of this training program, IGPDE has observed a real snowball effect. Wooclap training sessions for trainers are now held every two or three months, each time bringing together new volunteers as well as training coordinators.

These coordinators play a key role. By mastering Wooclap themselves, they can then recommend it and integrate it into their own training pathways.

IGPDE goes even further by offering personalized follow-up for trainers who want to deepen their practice. Julien and his team organize additional workshops to explore advanced features such as question blocks, delayed feedback, and sequencing.

This gradual upskilling perfectly illustrates Wooclap’s philosophy: supporting pedagogical transformation without complicating daily work.

Key takeaway: simplicity, engagement, and enjoyment

Over the course of these sessions, one conclusion stands out: Wooclap’s ease of use is the number one adoption driver.

Because it is intuitive, Wooclap reassures. Because it is engaging, it builds loyalty. And because it adapts to all formats, in-person, remote, or hybrid, it naturally becomes a trusted companion for modern trainers.

Julien concludes with a smile:

What trainers really like is being able to say: ‘I can prepare my questionnaire once, and if I have several sessions during the year, I can reuse it every time.’ That makes them very happy.

That is the true strength of a well-designed tool: it turns training into an experience, while giving trainers greater efficiency and peace of mind.
