Forget the days of seeing your audience passively scrolling through social media feeds to check out their BFF’s new profile pic or their favourite celebrity’s most recent exploits📲, and more to the point, not retaining any information being shared during the presentation.

We get it, captivating learners during lectures isn’t the easiest of tasks, but it is far from impossible! Remember this: an interactive presentation is a memorable one, because it encourages the audience to sit up straight and actively listen to what you are saying, rather than finding the most comfortable sitting position to sleep in and drifting away. We can all agree that a bored audience is a forgetful and undesirable one.

To spare you and members of your future audiences this kind of ordeal, we came up with Wooclap💡

Wooclap is an amazing audience response system that will shake up any presentation’s rhythm, boost participation rates, and improve the audience’s engagement and experience!

1. What’s wrong with passive learning?

A study by Paris Dauphine University showed that attention rates decrease drastically after the first 10 minutes of a traditional presentation. According to neuropsychologist Olivier Verdin, the audience needs more “cuts”, referring to the action of switching from one teaching style to another (i.e. from a traditional lecture to interactive behaviour). Ideally, one should change educational activities (i.e. ask a question or two) every 10 minutes or so. By adding these cuts to a presentation, you change its pace and style, and with it, the attitude of its participants.

2. How does it work?

3. Why choose Wooclap? Because:

  • It enables both live and distance learning
  • It connects with tools you use everyday (PPT,Google slides, PDF, Keynote, LMS, Excel, …)
  • It gives every student a chance to speak
  • It measures the understanding of your learners in real time
  • It improves participation and interactivity in class

4. What’s the meaning of “Wooclap” one may wonder?

Since we get asked the question on occasion, we thought we’d put it to rest once and for all 😁. The name Wooclap is a reference to the fact that using the platform during a presentation leads to a combination of cheers (woo’s) and applause (claps). Much like using the platform, it’s just that simple!

Regular use of Wooclap may result in prolonged applause and cheering. Possible side-effects include blistering hands, damaged vocal chords, and leg cramps. If your standing ovation lasts for more than 30min, promptly consult your Wooclap Team. 👏
