Wooclap launches Wooflash for remote exams

On March 15th, when educational institutions around the world closed their doors in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak, we announced the launch of Wooflash to help teachers follow the progress of their students at a distance. A few days ago, we decided to take things a step further by offering a way to use Wooflash to take exams.

The objective of Wooflash is to help students study more efficiently and to allow them to test themselves in an exam setting. Considering the current situation, we launched the “Exam” feature to provide value and relevant solutions to teachers and Educational Technologists. This feature takes the form of an ‘Exam’ option available on the current Wooflash course creation interface.

Wooflash for continuous and final assessments

Continuous assessments

6,000 teachers and students are already successfully using Wooflash. Jean-Alexandre Pouleur, professor at the University of Mons, uses the current version of Wooflash for continuous assessment:

“The use of Wooflash as I have implemented it for continuous assessment is a particularly benevolent solution for my students during this health crisis. After experimentation, they requested that Wooflash be extended to other teachers. It’s not just fun, it’s educational. I use Wooflash with Wooclap and Moodle. On Moodle, the forum allows them to criticize their results in order to help each other: they cooperate and learn as a group while studying individually. Critical debates, which Wooflash stimulates, are much more numerous and dynamic than before. Ongoing evaluation with Wooflash and Moodle is not only benevolent but also more effective. “

Final assessments

For Audrey Dedonder, assistant teacher and project manager at the Haute Ecole Léonard de Vinci, who uses Wooflash to help her students study, this new “Exam” option will allow her to organise exams under the conditions of a final assessment. In June, her 270 students will therefore take their final test on Wooflash. She explains her choice:

“Since the tool is ergonomic, easy, simple, and appealing, it is easy to use for any teacher or trainer who isn’t comfortable with digital tools. Indeed, we must not forget that not everyone has the same knowledge or agility when it comes to technology. Both Wooflash and Wooclap allow a serene use for everyone”.

What you can do with the Exam option

The Exam option is available and allows you, among other things, to :

  • Create questions on Wooflash and convert them into exams
  • Control the duration of exams by defining a start and end time and a time limit during which a student can complete the exam;
  • Display questions in a random order and allow students to switch between questions at any time.

At the end of the exam, teachers will be able to download an Excel file containing the students’ scores for all questions to grade them individually.

Wooflash will remain free until the end of the 2020 school year’s exams. Our primary objective is to create value for teachers.
