At a time when more than 1.5 billion learners across the world are not able to attend school or university, Wooclap makes its application available in Microsoft Teams to ensure that teachers and their students can stay connected to maintain learning continuity in the face of the COVID-19 outbreak.

« Higher education institutions are urgently implementing distance learning systems, but they’re also seeking to maintain the interactivity that is vital to teaching and learning. In these uncertain times, we know that maintaining the connection is important and that distance should not be synonymous with a degraded learning experience », says Wooclap co-founder and CEO Sébastien Lebbe, before adding « Microsoft Teams is a widely used platform across the world and many organizations have asked us how to use Wooclap and Teams simultaneously ».

Being integrated into the teachers’ working environment is a priority

Wooclap thrives to create simple solutions that integrate into the working environment (Learning Management Systems, presentation tools, etc.) of teachers and trainers to make it easier and quicker for them to use our tools. Since May 2018, for instance, Wooclap has been integrated into Microsoft’s PowerPoint presentation software that is widely used by trainers and teachers in their classrooms.

« In an unprecedented situation such as the one we’re experiencing, this speed of use is more crucial than ever to enable the implementation of learning continuity systems for millions of students in a hurry. », says Sébastien Lebbe.

Maintaining learning continuity and interactivity at a distance is possible

Microsoft Teams is now an integral part of the working environment of many teachers around the world. Teaching and learning from home is a big change for most students and educators. Without a physical school or classroom, it can be challenging to keep students and educators engaged and connected. With the combination of Wooclap and Teams, which is available for free for schools during the COVID-19 pandemic, we will be able to make remote learning and teaching more dynamic and interactive for everyone.

Wooclap is now accessible within Microsoft Teams to maintain an open line of communication between students and teachers and to allow them to stay focused on learning and teaching. Thanks to videoconferencing, teachers can teach remote classes for a large number of connected students. By integrating Wooclap directly into Teams, the experience for teachers and students is enhanced. The benefits of using Wooclap face-to-face can also be reaped in distance learning, in an instant. The use of Wooclap in a remote class setting fosters interactivity, increases students participation and eventually improves their learning experience.
