8 things to know about Wooclap

Whether you are an avid Wooclap user who believes they know everything about their favourite EdTech platform, or you are just discovering the full potential of our tools - Wooclap and Wooflash - here are 8 things you should know about us.

Why? Well, the next time you want to show off in between lessons, or you have to fill an awkward silence during a video conference because your favourite background is taking too long to load, you’ll be thankful to have this information. Let’s just say “you’re welcome!” in advance, and move along.

  1. Wooclap was originally called…
    Kicking off this list is a strange code: DYHAQ. It stands for Donuts, Yoghurt, Hummus - sorry, that’s my grocery list. Not only does “Do You Have Any Questions?” make more sense, it was the first code ever created on Wooclap, and it served as the platform’s original name (yes, you read that right). Maybe it lacked a certain creativity, but you can’t deny it suited the tool.
  2. Wooclap is made in Europe
    With headquarters in Brussels, offices in Paris, and the ambition to conquer Spain, Italy, the United Kingdom and Germany, our platforms - again, Wooclap and Wooflash - are European through and through. So is our policy on GDPR, because we want Wooclap to be usable in countries all over the world. What’s the saying? “The sky is the limit”?
  3. 500.000+ teachers use Wooclap worldwide

    Our team is continuously growing to provide the best possible support to all these teachers and institutions on a daily basis.   5. We organise DEAL Hours (and GoGoGo Learnings)
    “What are those?”, I can hear you thinking. Well, that’s what we call our learning sessions, because at Wooclap, there is always something to learn. In fact, one of our core values is #alwayslearning! Once a month, during the DEAL Hour- or “Drop Everything And Learn” - we turn off all notifications and focus on individual training. Whatever the subject, the important thing is to improve.
    However, being a team, we also organise micro training sessions that can benefit us all, like how to write a compelling email, how to create clear graphs, how to compile an exhaustive list of groceries… Every Monday morning. At 9am. That’s right, we like to start the week strong!
  6. Script and Judgment Concordance Tests, Wooclap’s hidden gems.
    Did you know that Wooclap is the only interactive platform to offer this type of question? Originally created by Bernard Charlin to train medical students, this exercise allows you to collect and compare answers from experts and students - on a single platform. If you’re not a doctor, rest assured: judgment concordance tests can be used to discuss legal and ethical questions across a variety of disciplines.
  7. We organise Woobinars
    2020 pushed us to innovate, namely by creating “Woobinars”, a combination of Wooclap and webinars. The idea is to host an interactive online conference, during which our speakers use Wooclap to interact with the audience. Intrigued? You can find every Woobinar on our Youtube channel.
  8. We want to be accessible to all
    We are continuously working on improving the readability of all our content, to enable people with disabilities (blind, severely visually impaired, dyslexic, dyspraxic…) to interact easily with our application. Today, the participants’ interface on Wooclap is partially compliant with WCAG 2.1 level AA, and we will keep working to improve its accessibility. The platform also meets the accessibility criteria of the UK’s JISC.
